So, today we're going to talk about how to use a heat gun for bending PVC pipe. It's a very simple process and there isn't much to learn. Most of it comes from gaining experience while working in the field. When working with new PVC pipe, there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind. First, you always want to keep the conduit moving. You don't want to leave it sitting in one spot for too long or it will start to burn or scorch. Today, I'm going to show you a simple demonstration of how to bend a piece of 3/4 inch PVC conduit. We're going to bend it offset, which means we're going to create a bend at a specific point on the pipe. To begin, you need a 1/2 inch to 2 inch Greenlee bender, which typically costs around 400 dollars. If you work for an electrical contractor, it's a good investment to make. However, if you don't have access to a bender, you can also use a heat gun, which we may demonstrate in a future video. Back to the demonstration, we want to make sure the circuit is properly set at 20 amps. You can see that as I touch the pipe, it's starting to warm up. It's important to have handles when working with heated pipe, especially if you're wearing gloves. If you're doing underground PVC work outdoors, gloves are recommended to protect your hands from burns.
